OUR MISSION

“We aim to achieve a zero-accident mortality where no one suffers from the agony of losing a life that affects the happy environment in a family.”

Road Accidents Data
As Per World Health Organisation (W.H.O)

Accidental
Deaths

Approximately 1.3 million people die each year as a result of road traffic crashes.

Cost To
GDP

Road traffic crashes cost most countries 3% of their Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Majority Of
Victims

More than half of all road traffic deaths are among vulnerable road users: pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists.

Most Impacted Countries

93% of the world's fatalities on the roads occur in low- and middle-income countries, even though these countries have approximately 60% of the world's vehicles.

Age-Group Of Victims

Road traffic injuries are the leading cause of death for children and young adults aged 5-29 years.

Our Vision

Although our Basic Life Saving mission shall continue, we are broadening our focus on effective transformation in villages where 60% of our public resides but amenities are negligible. This will be possible through change in digital technology whereby unemployed youth from villages will be trained by Sahayta team making them competent to become Training of Trainers (TOT) and impart sequential handling of Road Accidents and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) independently in their respective villages. They will also be attached with the adjoining Police Thana as First Responders thereby discharging dual responsibility. Despite all effort, road accidents are not declining and if we compare the road strategy in cities and highways, we find that highways in India constitutes only 6.2% of the total Indian road network, but accounts for 53.3% in total road accidents. Therefore, if we target the villages and their corresponding highways, we will be generating employment as well as reduce innocent deaths, a cause of great concern.

Our Founding Objectives

CALLING THE
108 Ambulance

In India, poorest of the poor possessing a mobile and having knowledge of the basic concepts, the onlookers should use this knowledge to look for the nearest hospital location as soon as he/she witnesses a road accident. Calling the 108 Ambulance as the first priority, simultaneously to converse with the emergency help-desk, narrate the serious condition of the patient and transfer without losing the precious initial moments after an injury to initiate early treatment to improve the condition. This sequence to be adopted if there are indications that there is delay in arrival of 108 Ambulance.

Campaign To Install 2 ICEs
In Case Of Emergency Numbers

We run campaigns for the use of ICE (In Case of Emergency) numbers by all mobile users on the locked screen. To install 2 to 3 ICE numbers on locked screen of mobile will enable the bystanders to call the family members at the earliest-as the first few moments after the injury are very crucial in the outcome. This should be in addition to first transfer the seriously injured to the nearest medical facility.

Education Campaigns About
Good Samaritan Law 2016

In order to allay the apprehensions of the bystanders, we highlight the Good Samaritan Law of 2016 which was formulated by the Hon’ble Supreme Court to encourage people to help the victims of road accidents. This Law ensures prompt emergency treatment in the hospital without insisting for lodging of FIR. He/she shall not be liable for any civil or criminal action. On the contrary incentives have been granted to motivate people to help in such crisis.
